This traditional emerald cut weighs 2.14 carats. This gem might not catch your eye buried in the collection, but it is the only one I have called maroon (one of my high school colors). I have my tangents when it comes to naming color in tourmaline and sometimes two different ways come back to the same point. In this case of a modest gemstone that is a little rough, I have yet to make it back to maroon with another example, therefor it belongs in the circle of color.
