This oval weighs 16.11 carats. The rough was one of my bigger purchases when I began to deal with Africa directly. It didn't sell the first time it was offered on the internet, but I decided to stretch for it when it came around again. The color description is what made the sale. A tourmaline, that is peach and green, and not a bi-color is uncommon and interesting. The gemstone I cut from the rough is bright, flashy and always leaves me wondering if the c axis in tourmaline is always at least as dark or darker than the a/b axis. Why you might ask, would I question a sacred and irrefutable fact? As I rotate and examine this gemstone, I see a weak yellow green cloud floating around in a sea of peach. The peach serges forward, but can not extinguish the yellow green c axis color, but it certainly dominates the gemstone. It is unique to the collection and needs a little effort to be appreciated.
