Quartz

Gilalite in Quartz

specimen, clear quartz with floating discs of gilalite, often referred to as Medusa Quartz or hyperbolized as "Paraiba Quartz" . Taken with fiber optic light, not dark field.

Rutile in Quartz

A blade of brookite which has acted as a nuclei for a dramatic outgrowth of rutile. Also present, coiled ripidolite aggregates

Tourmaline in Quartz

Colorless quartz cab which was purchased in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Crystals are all the same pale blue color when viewed perpendicular to the C axis, but show a dramatic extinction when viewed in the direction of the C axis. Magnification: 10X
