Corundum, var: Sapphire (Heated)

Microscopic particle inclusions with straight colour banding in a heat treated Thai blue sapphire. The particles give the stone a sleepy or hazy appearance which is common to sapphires from Kanchanaburi, Thailand.

Quartz

Clear quartz with floating discs of gilalite, often referred to as Medusa Quartz or hyperbolized as "Paraiba Quartz" . Taken with fiber optic light, not dark field.

Specimen of quartz with fibrous gilalite disseminated throughout the entire specimen: Also shot with fiber optic light.
A blade of brookite which has acted as a nuclei for a dramatic outgrowth of rutile. Also present, coiled ripidolite aggregates
